They were made up of double ramparts separated by moats. They were destroyed by Maria Theresa because they prevented the development of the city. The eastern part of the fortifications was rediscovered during the construction of the Bratislava bridge, which destroyed the entire district around the urban highway that the bridge vomits. The ramparts have been restored: one door and two sections of walls remain today, but their pathways are rarely open.

Très agréable de se promener dans les pentes menant au château de Bratislava le long des anciens murs d'enceintes encore debout. La porte en pierre possède un grand charme, surtout si le temps est beau et qu'il n'y a pas beaucoup de monde (je l'ai fait en mars, le temps était clément, ensolleillé et les rues vides).
