The Piarist monks arrived in Sväty Jur in 1685 and built the monastery from 1720 onwards, expanding the building that housed a high school or gymnazium, which was an important centre of knowledge transmission until 1919. On the façade of the building, you can admire an enamelled ceramic sundial, which bears the symbols of this wine-growing city: the sun, the power of life, the grapes, the fruit of the hard work of the winegrowers.
