SNP CENTRAL SQUARE (NÁMESTIE SNP)
This place, very nice, is packed in winter and summer. At the northeast end of the square, it is possible to climb up the tower tower built in 1552 and slightly tilted. Once in the top we have a very nice panorama on the square and the surrounding nature. This tower used to serve as a prison and a torture chamber. To access the top, ask the ice store at its base. The austere Saint-François-Xavier evangelical church dates back to the th century. In the centre of the square, the black obelisk was erected in honour of Soviet army soldiers killed during the Second World War. Several beautiful bourgeois houses surround the square, including the Thurzov house with Renaissance coquetteries built in the th century. Today it houses the Slovak National Museum. To the southwest of the square, the Benicky house is also remarkable for its frescoes, its Renaissance arcades and its portal. Built in the th century, this house Bethlenov has a beautiful medieval tower.
