The Plague Column is the most characteristic monument of Kremnica. It has decorated Štefánikovo Square since the 18th century. Built in memory of the plague epidemic that decimated the city's population in 1710, it is clearly one of the most beautiful columns of its kind in Slovakia. It culminates at a height of 20 m. In Baroque style, it represents the patron saints of the plague with the Holy Trinity at the top. It is the work of the sculptors Stanetti and Vogerie.
