The second oldest church in the city, it was built by the Franciscans after the great fire of 1333. The exterior still features Gothic elements, notably the sculptures overhanging the main entrance. It was the seat of the bishopric of Eger from 1597 to 1671, when the city fell into Turkish hands, before later returning to the Franciscan congregation. The interior of the church was redecorated in the Baroque style.
