This museum of medieval weapons, part of the Museum of Eastern Slovakia, is magnificently housed in the beautifully restored house of François II Rákóczi. This Hungarian nobleman, who became Prince of Transylvania in 1704, led a rebellion against the Habsburgs between 1707 and 1711. Forced into exile in the Ottoman Empire, he continued to conspire against Vienna until his death. In 1906, his body, buried in Turkey, was repatriated for burial in St. Elisabeth's Cathedral in Košice.
