A diving site where you can discover hard and soft corals of various species, predators...
The Moucha-Maskali islands will delight divers. The coral reefs, preserved for the moment, explode with color and overflow with life. The most representative species of the waters of the region are all present: hard and soft corals of various species (some endemic) and their hundreds of colorful inhabitants (napoleon, clown fish, butterfly fish, flag fish ...) and predators of various sizes (barracuda, shark, loche). This underwater wealth can easily be contemplated "on the surface", with fins, mask and snorkel, because the coral fields are shallow. The accompanied and experienced divers will go deeper. We dive around a wreck of a Liberty Ship, which sank not far from the islands. Here are some other sites that are worth diving, from north to south:
The northern drop off. Strong relief, rocky scree, coral spats, numerous fauna. Only in good weather as there is no shelter.
The Air France buoy. On the drop off, around the Air France buoy. Shipwreck, rich fauna, ideal site for snorkeling.
The canyon. One of the only sites in Djibouti perfectly sheltered from the currents and tides. You can discover the numerous colonies of colored fish that live there.
The sunken buoy. Its name comes from the old port buoy which marked the access channel to the port of Djibouti. At a depth of 15-30 m, along the drop off, we will see a varied fauna including some predators.
