This must-see center on Route 1 is dedicated to the tectonic and volcanic activity that has shaped, and continues to shape, Iceland's geography and landscape. Interactive and educational, it presents the different types of eruptions, explains the jökulhlaup phenomenon and distills notions of seismology. Within the walls of the center, you'll also find a souvenir store and a restaurant, the Katla. A great way to understand just how important volcanism has been in the formation of Iceland.
