SVARTIFOSS
A magnificent waterfall, as photogenic as atypical, at the bottom of the slopes of Skaftafellsheiði, in Skaftafell.
The lower slopes of Skaftafellsheiði have many waterfalls and cascades. The most beautiful of them is undoubtedly Svartifoss, which falls from an overhang of basaltic organs. As photogenic as it is atypical, it is a waterfall that has to be earned a little because you have to walk for about thirty minutes with a difference in height of 180 meters. Downstream, the same stream falls three times at Magnúsarfoss, Hundafoss and Thjófafoss. Hundafoss was the fording point where horsemen used to cross the stream to reach the farms.
