SVÍNAFELLSJÖKULL GLACIER

This glacier, a glacial tongue derived from and south of the Vatnajökull Glacier, is also the setting for sequences beyond the Wall in season 2 (ep. 6, 7, 8, 10) and season 3. When the Night's Watch ventures beyond the Wall, it is on these icy lands that Jon Snow meets Ygrid's gaze for the first time? The glacier can be seen in the scene where Jon Snow and the Night's Watch capture Ygrid, and then in the scenes where Jon Snow himself becomes a captive of the Wildlings. Svinafellsjokull is also the location for the filming of the big battle between the small group led by Jon Snow and the White Walkers army in the final episode of season 7. It is in this icy setting that the King of the Night transforms Viserion, one of the three dragons of Daenerys.
For the record, Svinafellsjokull is nicknamed Hollywood Glacier because he appears in many Hollywood productions, including Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins.
