GLEÐIVÍK EGGS
A remarkable contemporary work, representing 34 carved eggs, by Icelandic artist Sigurður Guðmundsson.
This work of art stands out in a somewhat deserted area! At the water's edge, you'll find 34 eggs corresponding to those laid by birds nesting in the area, sculpted in 2009 by Icelandic artist Sigurður Guðmundsson. All are the same size, with the exception of one egg. Indeed, only the egg of the red-throated loon, Djúpivogur's emblematic bird, has a different size from the 33 other ovoid sculptures. The result is as picturesque as it is incongruous, making for an invigorating stroll and a welcome break.
