MUSEUM OF EASTERN ICELAND
Exhibits on reindeer and rural life in East Iceland through the centuries in a museum in Egilsstadir.
This museum has two permanent exhibitions: one on reindeer, introduced to the region in the 18th century, and the other on rural life in East Iceland through the centuries. The East is the only region in Iceland where you can see reindeers, so keep an eye out for them! On the spot, a small café and a souvenir shop. On weekends, you can sometimes watch the different phases of wool preparation or take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.
