GRAFARKIRKJA
The oldest chapel in Iceland built by the master craftsman who would have carved the wooden decorations in a baroque style.
In the middle of a field, the oldest chapel in Iceland, built at the end of the 17th century, stands discreetly. It is the smallest religious building on the island, with its peat roof. It would have been built by the master craftsman Guðmundur Guðmundsson who would have carved all the wooden decorations in a baroque style, not very common here in Iceland. There is a parking lot where you can leave your car and then walk to the entrance. This building is located a few kilometers south of Hofsós, not far from road 76.
