ILLUGASTAÐIR
One of the best places to see seals with binoculars, and the site of Iceland's last major execution.
One of the best places to see seals is along this seaside path, but it's best to take binoculars and come at low tide to maximize your chances of spotting them, as the rocks on which they like to sunbathe are a little far away. The site is closed between April and June when the eiders are nesting. This was also the site of Iceland's last public execution in 1830, following the murder of the medium-healer Natan Ketilsson. There's also a small café and camping site.
