A rock eroded and isolated in the sea that is 15 m high in Vatnsnes.
In Vatnsnes, don't miss Hvítserkur, an eroded rock isolated in the sea. At 15 metres high and with a wave-cut base, Hvítserkur stands in the waves like some petrified prehistoric monster on three legs. Legend has it that Hvítserkur was originally a three-legged troll, on its way to bombard the monastery of Þingeyrar with large rocks. But the troll was surprised by the sunrise which turned him into stone. A signpost indicates the way down, and it takes 5 to 10 minutes to walk to it.
