Æðey and Vigur are the only islands in the fjord with a human presence. These islands are teeming with seabirds. Vigur is a small island inhabited by a single family living in the traditional way and entirely dependent on the sea. This green island is renowned for its large colonies of puffins and eider ducks, whose down is collected.
