Impossible to reach this hotel. We prepaid the hotel 1720EUR back in Mar 2020 and the booking is cancelled. They stopped replying our email and nobody answer the phone.
The staff was super friendly. Self check in made things easier. However, there are no elevators, so could be tricky to bring luggage up and down. The rooms and beds were decent. But bathroom was super small and electric outlets were very few.
Walls are paper thin and tiny. There is zero shelf or vanity space in the bathroom. The shower is tiny. Very limited electrical outlets; in fact by the desk there are none. You are forced to put the teapot on the floor to use it.
The view from the hotel is of a fuel depot. It looks terrible.
There was nobody in reception when we arrived around 7:00PM. Our keys were on the counter. There is no elevator, so you get to haul your luggage up three flights of stairs.
Mala experiencia.
No me alojaría nunca aquí.
Pros:
* Beds were comfy
* Sink water tastes good
* Doors lock well, but they’re a little confusing
* Within walking distance of everything in the town, including restaurants
* Beautiful view of mountains and ocean from our room, and likely most of the rooms due to location of the hotel and windows
* The window opens more than just a crack but not so much that you’ll fall out, which is nice for getting some fresh air in.
* No cigarette smell!!!
* Rooms are very clean
* Kind and helpful staff
* They have real tissues which was wonderful! Not the garbage “tissue paper” kind.
* Lighting is good in the rooms
* Check in was easy and quick!
* Room is well-heated!
* Good amount of storage space for the size of the room.
* Good blackout curtains (nice for midnight sun)
Cons:
* Either lack of parking or no clear parking area (we parked in a small strip in the front of the hotel where we noticed parking spots)
* There was a stuffy smell in the room which we think came from the bathroom. There was grey mold clogging a ceiling fixture that we think is a heater.
* I don’t trust the outlets. We plugged in the hair drier provided by the hotel and turned it on. We saw sparks shoot out and seconds later the drier turned off. We refused to charge our phones in the hotel fearing the outlets would ruin something. This has not happened at any other hotel or site we’ve stayed at.
* The stairs are very steep and small, making them hard to climb.
* The hotel itself is old, so some pieces are coming apart a little bit. The laminate on the floor has some cracks and the carpet and walls aren’t in top shape, but they’re clean and well maintained. Not cheaply maintained or anything, just old.
* The price is steep, even taking into account the remote location. The rooms are also small for the price, but that is common in Iceland.
* Very thin walls. I could hear doors and people talking in the hallways and even some talk in the room next to mine.
The room was slightly smaller compared to other hotel rooms we have stayed at so far on Iceland. The TV was smaller as well. But the room was quiet. Breakfast was a surprise but only cold stuff nothing hot. Have to agree about the staff not the most engaging.
The rooms may be nice, but the lack of professionalism in the staff was a bit strange. Very unhelpful and strange that the hotel was locked until 3:30pm. The rooms were very comfortable with a great location. Tv’s don’t work but the showers have GREAT water pressure.
This is a very small hotel with an excellent location to see Kirkjufell. However you can’t check in until 4pm. The door is locked. The room was very small but good hot water and water pressure. The breakfast was adequate cold cuts hard boiled eggs bread good coffee.
It s a good enough place to shower and sleep. No elevator though. Very close to two good restaurants the Harbour cafe and an excellent one just around the corner that faces Kirkjufell
Lack of professionalism, the woman in the lobby like a wall, unhelpful and helpless, great location and close to a great restaurant. The rooms are small but enough for us to rest and a quiet place. Sand on the floor. Didn't like it. The staff should be more experienced and able to help with the lobby.
No comments !!! People from reception they are not friendly and they are not helpfully. We have been there 17 of june a room with dirty floor and there is a freshener in the air....Breakfast no have a fresh bread...
On as vu aucun personnel
Vraiment je ne le recommande pas du tout
