LAUGAR
The starting point for trails that allow 35-minute to 3-hour hikes north of Buđardalur
North of Búðardalur, the Laugar site is the starting point for trails ranging from 35 minutes to 3 hours in length. One of the highlights of the walk is the Hvergil gully, from whose walls 60°C water oozes and flows. This water feeds a landscaped basin (Gudrúnarslaug) near which a charming traditional "changing room" made of stone, woodwork and grass has been erected. In addition to the free natural hot-water pool, Laugar boasts a swimming pool: it was the first in Iceland to be covered, in 1932.
