This is the Viennese version of the beer festival, which celebrates local beer, music and folk costumes.
The Wiener Wiesn-Fest is like the Vienna Oktoberfest. There are fewer people than in Munich, but the beer flows freely and the Austrian Länder parade in traditional costume. Tents are erected on the Kaiserwiese in the Prater for the occasion. Austrian beer, local cuisine, folk music stars and traditional dress provide the atmosphere. Folk music during the day, and in the evening, groups from the federal states perform in the warm tents. Get out your drindl and leather trousers. Joy and good humour guaranteed.
