This is Austria's national holiday, with a military parade on the Ring. It celebrates the adoption of neutrality in 1955.
Formerly known as Flag Day(Tag der Fahne), the Republic of Austria's national holiday is celebrated on October 26, the day on which the Austrian Neutrality Act was passed in 1955. This day has been celebrated as a public holiday since 1965. To mark this national holiday, a military parade takes place on the Ring. A military band performs during the celebrations. The parade is much stiffer and less colorful than the Rainbow Parade in June! Nothing too touristy, except for those who love uniforms.
