MEKHITARIST MONASTERY
A monastery with a rich library of many precious works.
The monks distil liquor in this monastery, which was established in Vienna in 1811. Their flagship product, the Mekhitarist liquor, which is said to have medicinal properties, is on sale in the store at Neustiftgasse 19. This Armenian Catholic monastic order is not only a distillery, its charisma also includes teaching, the study of science and the evangelical mission. It once had a remarkable printing press. The library of this monastery is rich in numerous and precious works (incunabula).
