CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF THE VALLEY (MARIA AM GESTADE)
A church whose 1515 organ, adorned with cherubs and other celestial ornaments, is one of the finest in Vienna.
The elevated position of the Church of Sainte-Marie-du-Rivage bears witness to the time when the Danube flowed through the town. The church's helmet-shaped bell tower and magnificent doorway opening onto Salvatorgasse are particularly noteworthy. The 1515 organ, adorned with cherubs and other celestial ornaments, is one of Vienna's finest. A place of pilgrimage, the church houses the relics of St. Clement Hofbauer, patron saint of the city of Vienna. It is the parish of the French-speaking Catholic community.
