This church is the first in Vienna to feature a Baroque cupola.
Set back from the Graben, this small baroque church from the early 18th century is said to have been founded by Charlemagne in 800. In 1137, a new church was built for the Scottish abbey, which was rebuilt in the 14th century in a better orientation. In 1722, at the time of its consecration, it was the first in Vienna to have a baroque dome (frescoes of the Assumption). It is distinguished by its oval nave, a choir flanked by two small chapels and an apse that form a Greek cross.
