SCHUBERT CHURCH
Church where Schubert's liturgical works are often performed at Sunday mass.
Known as the Schubert Church, it is in fact the Lichtental Church. Built between 1712 and 1718, it was indeed an important church in the composer's life. First of all, he was baptized here, then became a singer and organist in its choir from 1812 to 1820. His first mass was performed here in 1814. The church itself is an interesting monument, a transition between Baroque and Classical styles, in a peaceful and charming neighborhood. As a fitting tribute, Schubert's liturgical works are often performed here at Sunday mass.
