SCHUBERT'S FUNERAL HOME
An apartment whose exhibition recounts the last weeks of Franz Schubert's life, his death and his funeral.
This is the apartment where Franz Schubert (1797-1828) lived out his last years, dying of illness at the age of 31. In addition to period furniture and a few personal effects, the exhibition features his beloved piano. The exhibition recounts the musician's last weeks, his death and his funeral, the last work written here. His grave is located in the Währinger Schubertpark, next to Beethoven's. Since 1888, however, his remains have been in the Musicians' Plot in the Central Cemetery.
