THERESIANUM
The Theresianum was originally the summer residence of the imperial family.
Originally, it was the summer residence of the imperial family. Destroyed during the Turkish siege of 1683, it was rebuilt. Charles VI spent his last days here. The imperial family then moved to Schönbrunn for the summer, and the Theresianum palace, named after the empress, was deserted. In 1746, Maria Theresa sold it to the Jesuits as an educational establishment to prepare talented young men for civil service. The former château, in its extensive grounds, is still home to a renowned international high school.
