SCHUBERT FOUNTAIN (SCHUBERTBRUNNEN)
The Schubert Fountain, erected in 1928, was designed by Theodor Stundl and Franz Matuschek.
Following in Schubert's footsteps in Vienna, pilgrims have many stops to make. Here's one for an aquatic monument. At the corner of Alserbachstrasse and Liechtensteinstrasse, the Schubert Fountain commemorates the child of Alsergrund (Vienna). It was erected in 1928 to mark the centenary of his death. The work by Theodor Stundl and Franz Matuschek is sober and allegorical. It incorporates the figure of a young woman in marble, an artistic evocation of creation.
