This building, commissioned in 1783 by Joseph II to house the Academy of Medicine and Surgery, displays the collections of the Vienna Medical University, which include wax anatomical models of human bodies, flayed, skeletal bodies dating from the late 18th century. These come from the collection imported from Florence by Joseph II and total 1,200 pieces. There is also a temporary exhibition of works by contemporary artists on a medical theme.
