MADAME TUSSAUDS VIENNA
Museum located in the Prater, housing some 90 wax figures over 2,000 and 3 floors.
If you like re-enactments and characters frozen in wax, this is the address for you! It takes between three and six months to create a wax sculpture - over 800 hours of meticulous, expert work. When the French sculptor Marie Tussaud presented her first wax exhibition in London in 1835, she certainly didn't imagine that her name would be linked in the 21st century to some twenty wax museums around the world, in Europe, the USA, Asia and even Australia. The first of these, in London, was inaugurated in 1884, in the same location where it still stands today. Madame Tussaud's museum in Vienna is relatively recent. Located on the Prater, at the entrance to the amusement park, it opened in 2011. Spread over three floors and 2,000m2, it features around a hundred wax figures. These include Austrian and historical figures such as Emperor Franz Joseph and the inevitable Sissi, Mozart, Falco, Klimt and Strauss, as well as Albert Einstein and Dominic Thiem. International stars include Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga, Chris Hemsworth, Sandra Bullock and Freddie Mercury. In a different register, Gandhi and Mandela were also invited. But the last event is the arrival in 2024 of the great actor Leonardo DiCaprio in the celebrity room, an attraction in itself! A thoroughly entertaining visit for the whole family. Numerous events and proposals are scheduled throughout the year.
