MICHAELERPLATZ
The square features Roman ruins unearthed during the latest redevelopment.
At the end of the Graben, you come to the Kohlmarkt. This chic street, named after the city's former coal market, leads to Michaelerplatz and the Imperial Palace(Hofburg). Roman ruins unearthed when the square was last redeveloped can be seen here. Admire the sober yet majestic St. Michael's Church(Michaelekirche), with its white and gold tones. In the nave, Georg von Liechtenstein's tombstone dates back to 1548. Opposite the Hofburg is the Loos Haus, a green building designed by Adolf Loos.
