HOHER MARKT
In the Middle Ages, Hoher Markt was a place where condemned prisoners were executed in a friendly atmosphere.
Since Roman times, this square has played a major role in the life of the city. Marcus Aurelius died here. In the Middle Ages, it was a place of execution of the condemned, in a good-natured atmosphere, a few meters away from the shouts of the fish and clothes merchants. The underground Roman ruins can be visited.
Carillon Anker. At numbers 10-11 of the square is the Ankeruhr (or Anker carillon): at noon sharp, come and watch the musical parade of 12 figures that count in Austrian history, including Marcus Aurelius, Maria Theresa or Eugene of Savoy
