SPITTELBERG
The Spittelberg is a fun, bohemian neighborhood to explore, with art galleries, studios and artists' cafés.
The Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse and their alleys, somewhat hidden between the outer ring road and the Neubau district, plunge you into an old-fashioned world of low houses and small passageways. It is a Biedermeier district, an artistic current of the "order of Vienna" between 1815 and 1848, reputed bourgeois and conservative. Hence these small, pretty houses with slightly kitschy ornaments. Today, the Spittelberg is a pleasant district to explore, with art galleries, studios and artists' cafés. Its Christmas market is one of the most beautiful in Vienna.
