DÜRNSTEIN ABBEY (STIFT DÜRNSTEIN)
Abbey in Dürnstein housing a renovated museum and Baroque buildings, including the emblematic Blue Tower on the banks of the Danube.
The abbey of the Augustinian congregation in Dürnstein boasts superb buildings in Baroque style, including the emblematic blue tower, so beautiful on the banks of the Danube. Its origin dates back to 1410, but the structure that can be seen today was built mainly in 1710. The abbey was desecrated in 1788 during the Great Reformation. The museum of the abbey has just been completely renovated and redesigned in a modern museography. It is a success! Art, heritage and spirituality on the menu.
