CATHEDRAL (DOMKIRCHE)
Cathedral where the heart of the Roman city of Aelium Celtum beat, with Romanesque Rosary chapel, organ concerts on site.
This is where the heart of the Roman city of Aelium Cetium beat. The Benedictines settled there in 760, and then made way for the Augustinian canons. The cathedral has been the seat of a bishopric since the end of the 18th century. Originally a Romanesque basilica, its interior was "baroque" by Jakob Prandtauer. The Romanesque Chapel of the Rosary, located in the south-eastern apse, is particularly noteworthy. In summer, cultural events are regularly held in the square. Organ concerts are held here in the autumn.
