INSTITUTE OF ENGLISH LADIES
School for girls, including Paula von Preradovic, who composed the Austrian national anthem, and a chapel with a Madonna and Child.
This school for girls was built in the early 18th century. Among its pupils was Paula von Preradovic, known to lovers of national anthems for having composed Austria's national anthem. The baroque ensemble is well worth a visit. The main building of the Institute is signed by the architect of Melk Abbey. The chapel, decorated with frescoes by Paul Troger and Bartholomäus Altomonte, houses a Virgin and Child signed Lucas Cranach.
