TOWN HALL SQUARE (RATHAUSPLATZ)
One of Sankt Pölten's most beautiful and lively town squares, with the Trinity statue, town hall and tower dating from 1591.
In Roman times, the place was already occupied. The archaeological remains uncovered in 1989 attest to this. In the Middle Ages, its importance increased. Today it is one of the most beautiful and lively squares in the city. The Trinity statue at the centre of the square is the work of Andreas Gruber. The town hall has beautiful Renaissance and Baroque remains. The town council has been in session here since 1503. The tower dating from 1591 bears the coats of arms of Vienna and Krems.
