ST. FLORIAN ABBEY (STIFT SANKT FLORIAN)
A flourishing Baroque abbey built in 1071, dedicated to the patron saint of Linz and a stronghold of the Canons of St. Augustine.
This abbey, founded in 1071 and rebuilt in the flourishing baroque style of the 18th century, is dedicated to the patron saint of Linz, invoked against fires and floods. There is a small museum on firemen. The Sankt Florianer Sängerknaben (little singers) are based here. Anton Bruckner, a former cantor and organist, is buried here. Empress Maria Theresa loved this place. Its library is remarkable.
