CASTLE PARK (SCHLOSSPARK)
The site houses the former fortress courtyard and a particularly romantic English garden.
Under the dukes of Bavaria, Albrecht I and Ludwig the Bearded, in the 14th and 15th centuries, the castle became a major fortress. In the 17th century, this powerful defensive structure reached its apogee with the imposing Burgfried (keep). Around 1724 and 1775, fires ravaged the town and the castle was never rebuilt. The park site includes the former fortress courtyard and a particularly romantic English garden, which is open to the public.
