BENEDICTINE ABBEY (BENEDIKTINERSTIFT)
Abbey founded in the century by Duke Tassilo III of Bavaria, with a Baroque abbey church and a museum featuring Tassilo's chalice.
Founded in the 8th century by Duke Tassilo III of Bavaria, in homage to his son who was killed during a hunting trip, the abbey is composed of a "baroque" abbey church (beautiful sculptures), an original 18th century mathematical tower converted into a small scientific museum, and fish ponds decorated with mythological statues. The museum, housed in the abbey buildings, displays the rare and famous chalice of Tassilo. The library is gigantic and contains 250,000 books.
