SEBASTIAN CEMETERY (SEBASTIANSFRIEDHOF)
Next to the church of the same name, this cemetery, which dates from 1595, is one of the little known places in the city. However, it lacks neither charm nor interest. Developed on the Italian model of a Campo Santo under the impetus of the then Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich, it includes the Mozart family's vault - in the small main alley leading to the St. Gabriel Chapel, in the middle of the cemetery, it is the third vault on the left - housing Leopold, the musician's father, Constanze, his wife and his second husband, Gerog Nikolaus von Nissen. The cemetery is bordered by a cloister with funeral plaques. The chapel of St. Gabriel, in the centre, is in fact Wolf Dietrich's mausoleum. Its beauty is due to the architect Elia Castello, author of the interior decoration. At the entrance to the cemetery, towards the church, you will notice the monument dedicated to Paracelsus, a famous Swiss doctor and alchemist from the early 16th century who died in Salzburg.
