Baroque garden featuring the Pegasus fountain, installed in 1913.
This Unesco-listed Baroque garden was commissioned in 1606 by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich of Raitenau for his beloved's castle. It features the Pegasus fountain, installed in 1913. Four original statues represent the four elements. Opened to the public by Franz Josef in 1854, this garden was the setting for a scene from The Sound of Music. The garden's grotesque statues are said to be the origin of our garden gnomes.
