This is the site of the Grünmarkt, a daily all-day market held at the foot of the University Church. Products are mainly offered by retailers, not by the producers themselves. At the corner of the square, near a telephone booth, a small passageway leads away from the crowds into a quiet, tree-lined square, home to the Faculty of Theology. On the other side, to the south, you come to the Festival Palace, which backs onto the Mönchsberg, the Monks' Mountain, a counterpart to the Kapuzinerberg on the left bank.
