It was Paul Fürst who invented the real Mozart balls in 1890, the round chocolate sweets with pistachio and nougat filling that all visitors stock up on before leaving Salzburg. The Fürst tea house was opened in 1884 and since 1890 the production of these sweets in honour of the musician has never ceased, and generations of gourmets have come to the counter to taste the delicious home-made pastries. The café is pleasant and in fine weather you can sit on the terrace.
