A mint with a splendid view of the old town, the Inn valley and the Karwendel massif.

A spiral staircase with 204 steps leads up to the mint tower and its former mint. From here there is a splendid view of the old town, the Inn valley and the Karwendel massif. The mint started to operate in 1567. In 1748, the most famous silver coin in the world, the Maria Theresa Thaler, was minted here. The mint was closed in 1809 and reopened in 1975 to mint the commemorative coins for the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck.
