Every first weekend in May, Zell am Ziller hosts one of Tyrol's biggest festivals: the Gauderfest, , which translates as "feast of the bon vivants". It's a beautiful folk and secular festival celebrating the arrival of spring. And in the streets, it's a festival of traditional costumes, beer stalls, entertainment, parades (with historical floats on Sunday), Tyrolean dances, Ranggeln (traditional wrestling) competitions, not forgetting the Gauderbock, that barrel of Austria's strongest spiced beer!
