CITY MUSEUM (MUSEUM DER STADT)
A museum with numerous collections tracing the history of the region back to primitive times.
Located in the Bruck castle, this museum has some forty rooms and numerous collections, including one dedicated to the painter Albin Egger (1868-1926). The archaeological section brings together the remains unearthed during the Aguntum excavations and traces the history of the region from primitive times. The castle's superb Gothic chapel houses a number of early paintings, including a Death of Mary by Simon von Taisten, featuring the Count of Görz and his wife Paola (1496).
