It is a former Cistercian monastery founded in 1142. Its current appearance is the result of fortifications and extension works in the th and th centuries. From 1788, the monastery became, under the Moro family, an important artistic centre. It is a magnificent ensemble, with internal courtyards planted with trees, works by Killian Pittner and Johann Gfall and an impressive 130 m wall wall surrounding the gardens.
