LAKE MILLSTÄTTER (MILLSTÄTTER SEE)
Carinthia's lake lies at an altitude of almost 600 m, with steep, fjord-like banks.
It is one of the many lakes in this highly watered mountain state. It is the second largest lake in Carinthia and lies majestically at the northern end of the Drava Valley, at the foot of the forested Seerücken mountain, at an altitude of almost 600 metres. Its steep banks give it the appearance of a fjord. It is accessible by the Tauern Railway (ÖBB). Another historic means of public transport, the same shipping company has been operating on the lake since 1901.
