Cathedral housing precious works including two chests carved with ivory on ebony.

Frederick III had the cathedral built between 1438 and 1464 in the flamboyant Gothic style. At the end of the 17th century, many Baroque elements were added. The interior contains precious works, including two chests carved with ivory on ebony. Above the choir is the motto of Frederick III: "A.E.I.O.U" or "It is Austria's right to rule the world". On the outside of the cathedral, there is a remnant of the fresco The Plagues, which depicts three plagues that struck Graz in 1480: the Turks, the locusts and the plague.
