Built in 1566 by Pankraz von Windischgrätz, near the city wall that once protected the city and which no longer exists. Raise your nose when you are facing the facade: you will discover a statue of Turkish soldier perpendicular to the wall. One of the symbols of the city.

Si la superbe ferronnerie surmontant la double porte cochère du Palais Saurau est particulièrement remarquable, c'est surtout l'étonnante figure du turc sortant de la façade sous la corniche au-dessus de cette porte qui attire la curiosité. Parmi les légendes qui l'entourent celle-ci reste la plus savoureuse : "Les Turcs avaient pris Graz, à l'exception de la forteresse du Schlossberg. Alors qu'un pacha turc dînait dans l'actuel palais Saurau, un boulet de canon tiré du Schlossberg frappa son assiette avec le délicieux rôti. Ce dernier s'est envolé par la fenêtre. Que pouvait faire d'autre le pacha que de le contempler ? Dans sa rage, il ordonna le retrait des Turcs de Graz." Mais en réalité comme les Turcs n'ont jamais occupé Graz, l'histoire a dû être différente mais la légende reste....
